biographic miscellany

What do you want to know? I'm twenty-nine years old. I still get excited every time the F train comes out of the tunnel after Carroll Street on my ride home from work, or farther out, on the way to Coney Island. I like doing handstands in the park and static trapeze. I go on 20-mile walks, and in 2011 I've started going on (much shorter) runs. I like silence; I like abstraction; I like tea and good espresso and ice cream and farmers markets and snow and ice skating and glee and libraries and carousels. I am a sucker for words and for word games, Scrabble and Boggle (and, yes, Lexulous and Scramble) especially. There are words I like enough to have them inked into my skin: my lower back says "you might as well live" (which is from a Dorothy Parker poem) and my right upper arm says "up with joy" (which is from an ee cummings poem).

I grew up in Rhode Island, but moved to New York City for college in 2000 and have been here ever since, aside from one summer in Cambridge, MA. I graduated from Columbia University in May 2004, with a major in English and a minor in history. I work in online products/web delivery at a university press, and I live in Brooklyn (Park Slope).

I read a lot, and I like lists. I keep a list of books I've read, and a list of movies I've seen. You can also find me on wordie.
